As the train approached Kyoto Station our hearts soared... outside our window wisps of light pink and white... a vision of sakura, cherry blossoms in full bloom.
We spent our springtime immersed in Japanese culture-visiting ancient temples, relaxing for hours in beautiful gardens, captivated by the calm of enchanting waterfalls.
One evening as we strolled by the To-ji Temple, we remembered what a Buddhist monk on the train had said, "it is impossible to know the real Japan without knowing Kyoto." As the days passed we came to understand what he meant-this wondrous city is the essence of the yin and yang... it's the modern and the ancient, blending effortlessly into perfect harmony.
